Win number two for the Rockets! Isaiah Van Noord in net recorded 43 saves. Down 1-0 after 1. Avery Wolfe-Sabo tied it with a deflection goal in the second. Grand Haven netted a quick deflection of their own. 2-1 GH at the end of 2. Then Noah Vos and Andrew Bouwman scored to give us the 3-2 lead and Josh Shafer sealed it with an empty net goal. 4-2 Rockets!!!

Rocket Dawg of the Week! Isaiah VanNoord is a a sophomore goaltender on the hockey team. Isaiah has worked hard all summer to prepare for the season. Isaiah is a three sport athlete (lacrosse, soccer, and hockey) and in all his activities, he works to make himself the best player and teammate he can be. Isaiah is a prime example of “leading by example,” he does not say much but he is always focused, ready to perform, and battles hard in games and practice. This has earned the respect of his teammates. In our first two games, Isaiah has stopped 72 of 75 shots on goal. That leaves him with a 96% save percentage, which is good for 3rd best in the state in that category! After the team’s first game, where Isaiah stopped 55 out of 57 shots, team captain, Andrew Bouwman told local media “(Van Noord) played a great game, if it wasn’t for him we would’ve lost for sure.” This is from coach Ryan Martin. Congratulations Isaiah and thanks to the boosters for the awesome shirt.

Great day to be a Rocket on the Cross Country team. These two guys ran amazing races! Read on for a description of the stunning performances.
Sophomore, Jaxon Allen again ran a very mature, composed, and gutsy race. He started out and was buried in the pack of studs that were elbowing for position or to keep position in the enormous pack of runners. Mile 1 Jaxon was 89th in 5:15 - 2 mile he was 75th in 5:24 - 3 mile he was 60th with a split of 5:21 - Jaxon Allen then blew past 2 others in the last .1 to finish in 58th place in the field of 255 of the best runners in the state. Very impressive race, especially for a Sophomore! Can’t wait to see him and his teammates run in the State Finals over the next few years.
Senior, Klay Grant ran a spectacular race! Klay came through the 1/2 mile mark in 2:25 and looking like he was in complete control, like he was cruising in a convertible on a sunny day. Klay came through the 1 mile in 5:03.3 (notice the tenths) which is right where he wanted to be. This pace landed him in 12th and a pack of runners all around him. He then put his foot on the gas more during the hilly section and ran the second mile in 5:03.4 (notice the tenths). Klay continued working with the pack all around him. He looked fatigued at this point but strong. 3rd mile was 5:10 and he fell back to 13th place. He rallied his strength and speed to finish the last .1 (160 meters) in 22 seconds and hammered past several guys to finish 8th in the Division 1 State Finals! Phenomenal race! Crazy proud of his efforts

As promised, congratulations Jaxon on a great season. Klay Grant congratulations on becoming all state athlete. We are so proud of you both.

Pictures of the two studs to follow! Congratulations to Klay and Jaxon on two incredible seasons and races. Jaxon finished 58th state with a 16:26.46. Sr Klay Grant earned all state honors finishing 8th place with a 5k time of 15:38.30. Amazing times, races, seasons & young men.
