Excited to learn with this awesome group of leaders! 2021 OK Conference Leadership Summit at Hope College.

Congratulations to Klay Grant, Klay is the last Rocket Dawg of the Week winner for the 2021 fall athletics season.
Coach Darin Grant had the following to say about Klay:
"Klay Grant is a Rocket Dawg for many reasons of which I will name a few.
1) Discipline and Drive - Klay reminds me of what I read in a book about Prefontaine, US Olympic Running Prodig, Klay is often seen running all around town. In the past 2 years Klay has taken a week to a week and half off between seasons and then gets right back at it running in extreme winter weather conditions, cold raining fall and spring conditions, or hot humid summer conditions. He knows consistent disciplined running is key for long-term growth.
2) Leadership - Klay focused on leading and leaving the RP Cross Country program at a higher level. That meant mentoring the underclassmen to be future leaders while on runs and imparting his experiences and knowledge to teammates. Based on the performances and skillfully executed races of his teammates he has developed teammates well during each long run and all out efforts during practices as well as after the race reflections talked through during cool downs.
3) Classroom Academics - Klay is a determined student in the classroom and outside of the classroom. He currently has a 4.3 GPA and is in the top 10 of his Senior class. Klay reads like he runs his miles. Constantly learning taking care of classwork or reading about his personal interests of track, cross country, spiritual disciplines, or life of the church.
4) Coachable - Reflection is key to becoming better at sports, in a career, and life in general. Klay is masterful in being open-minded and considering what other people suggest.
5) Accolades - XC City Meet Champion as a Soph, Junior, and Senior. XC Conference Champion as a Senior. XC State Finals Qualifier as Sophmore, Junior, and Senior. Academic All-State in XC several times.
As his coach, I am super proud of this kid. Klay is a remarkable representative of Reeths-Puffer Cross Country and Rocket City!"

Congratulations to sophomore Paige Anderson! Paige was selected the the golf coaches association Division 2 honorable mention all-state team. Pretty incredible accomplishment for a promising Sophomore. We are proud of you Paige.

Hello Rockets!
Reminder, Wednesday 11/3 at 6:00 PM, the athletic department will be hosting a Winter Kickoff event in the Arena, at the high school, for all winter high school athletes. At this meeting you can expect to hear a unified plan for communication from the coaching staff, a plan for parental and community support of individuals and teams, and needs prior to the season (final forms, fees, physicals). This meeting will be with all winter athletes, their parents/guardians, Mr. Sandee (athletic director) and Mrs. Hill (secretary to the athletic director). Please anticipate roughly a half hour for this meeting. From there, individual sport programs will branch off for their sport specific meetings. This will give athletes and parents an opportunity to review practice schedules, learn tryout procedures, discuss team rules and expectations for both athletes and support groups, along with other needs or communications regarding specific teams. Congratulations to Rocket Dawg of the week #8 - Rebekah Sweany,
“Rebekah is a senior on the Cross Country Team. Rebekah is an athlete who gives everything she can both mentally and physically for her team. She is a leader who encourages other teammates and takes the initiative with team activities both at practice and outside of practice times. Despite her current battle with Lyme disease, Rebekah has continued to run in the top seven and contribute to her team’s success. She is an incredibly tough runner who fights until the very end. Her determination and courage is inspiring to her teammates and everyone who knows her.” States Coach Sweany.
