Kindergarteners moved pallets and prepared the area for the compost station that will be built this weekend. In the meantime, they've already started adding food waste.




Here's a few pictures of Halloween fun from yesterday. So many awesome costumes. The wet and cold didn't put a damper on Central one bit!




DK students used their 5 senses to investigate pumpkins. They labeled a pumpkin using new vocabulary words, got their hands dirty trying to clean out the pulp and seeds, and certainly made the classroom smell like pumpkin all day.


Smiles have been abundant this week. The Kindergarten trips to Weesies were certainly a highlight of some fall fun!


Our 2nd Grade had a blast yesterday at Heritage Farms. What a tight-knit group of friends!

Guests visited our 2nd grade today to share their experiences in Haiti. Students were able to compare and contrast Haiti schools to ours. They are working on a Brainframe and will soon finish the unit with a writing piece.



It was a great Monday with Mia Hanichen shadowing the principal. She had a sharp eye for recognizing the Rocket Way behaviors of others while spending time in classrooms and on the playground.



Pete the Cat's visit to Central Elementary made for a super groovy Friday for our K-1 kiddos! Thank you Muskegon Area District Library.


Order forms for the Central apparel sale are due this Friday. Please consider taking part in this building-wide fundraiser, which doubles as a great way to show your Central Pride! All proceeds benefit students in various classroom and extension activities throughout the year!

Please help welcome Kathryn "Katie" Clifton to Reeths-Puffer and Central Elementary. Katie has been hired to teach Music, mainly for grades 1st and 2nd. She brings with her a wealth of experience and expertise. Our students will do great things with her leadership!

Dylan Hawks cashed in on good behavior to shadow the principal for the day. He enjoyed visiting classrooms and recognizing the Rocket Way behaviors of others. Keep emphasizing Respect, Pride, and Integrity at home. More certificates are waiting to be earned!


Last week, Mrs. Birr and Miss Nauta’s classes extended their learning beyond the classroom during the Big Lesson at the Lakeshore Museum. Students learned about their community, explored Muskegon past and present, and shared new knowledge with parents and community members.

Kindergarten teachers, students, and parents gathered to clean-up the K playgrounds. What a transformation! It's incredible what can be accomplished in a short amount of time when we join hands in improving things for our kids. Thank you parent volunteers!




Thank you firefighter Mark and firefighter Mike for educating our kids on fire prevention. Families, please be encouraged to develop and practice a plan for home fire escape. Not every hero wears a cape!




Mrs. Sandee's class presented their marble mazes to the Rocket Shop staff. PBL in Mathematics!




Mrs. Bos's 4th grade students have been studying how to translate themes of the natural life in still life arrangements with artist, Christy Dehoog-Johnson. They took their learning to the Muskegon Museum of Art and applied it to the Undying Traditions: Memento Mori exhibition.



The EL curriculum promotes social/emotional growth and habits of character. Here, kinders learn to be good speakers and listeners as they talk about their preferences.
