An email was sent to families yesterday introducing a few quality resources for exploring and supporting learning at home. This has been added to the News section of Central's site. Teachers may be sending additional ideas/challenges in the upcoming days for you to choose from.

Our PTO food drive is going well. Students climbed the ladder today, earning new playground equipment. A final push may result in Mr. Hamilton getting duct taped to the wall, and if we really work hard, Pie the Teachers! All items benefit the RPI and McMillan food pantries.

Rocket Way highlights from the week included two dynamo office assistants in Maddie C and Bella R, Brody W caking Ms. Kelly with silly string, and Cameron M wowing his classmates with magic!

Families packed the library (we lost count after 70 students) in pjs yesterday evening for the Family Read In. Be looking for upcoming March reading activities, as well as literacy events spread throughout the calendar year, as we promote every month as a reading month! Proud!




Central Elementary set a new school record during Waste-Free Wednesday at lunch time today. 193 students composted- that’s 44% of all students, doing their part to save the Earth!

Central Family Read In is this Thursday, March 5th. Come join us in the library from 6:00-7:00 pm to kick off March Reading Month. Dress in pj’s and bring your own reading material. Hope to see you there!
At our recent PBL meeting, Mrs. Sandee presented new STEM opportunities at Central due to the arrival of a Sphero Bolt (pictured here) and Dribble Up Smart Ball. Both offer opportunities to infuse computer coding and robotics into daily lessons for student engagement to soar!

We’ve ‘blasted off’ with regards to recognizing and celebrating the many great things happening every day at Central. Thank you for partnering with us in reinforcing Respect, Pride, and Integrity at home. Thank you for raising great kids, and sharing them with us!




Liam M cashed in at the Rocket Shop to enjoy lunch with the principal. Meanwhile, Jace T chose to spend some time with Mrs Z and Mrs W as office assistant.


The week ended with a Rocket Way celebration of epic proportions. Hailey P pied Mr H and his brave shadow, Joslynn S added a layer of yellow silly string, Kenna S followed with cherry pie to Mr H and Mrs Birr, and Arion S finished things off with a dousing of blue silly string.




Principal shadows for the week included Lauren S, Alyssa M, and Lars L. They all crushed it in their own unique ways. Future leaders!



Pies O’ Plenty from Miss Nauta’s class as of late. Jeremiah G. launched a Cherry pie at the principal last week, and Vivianna T. capped things off today with Lemon Meringue!




Thank you to Sheriff Poulin, Undersheriff Sanford, and LT. Smith from the Muskegon County Sheriff’s Department for coming in to read to our Kinders today.




A chilly but super fun night spent together as an R-P community at the Muskegon Winter Sports Complex! Special thanks to those who organized this year’s Rocket Family Night!
