It was “Test Day” in Robotics. This test was not on a piece of paper. Students built and programmed their machine and now the test was whether the robot could move and stop as programmed. Some of them worked and some of them did not work YET, but everyone learned.

The middle school students in Navigating Life during second block are learning so much from their fourth grade penpals. The rain couldn’t stop the students from making a personal delivery today.

History thinking in Social Studies and historical fiction in ELA go together like peanut butter and jelly (if you like PB&J). It is always important to be able to analyze and synthesize information to form our opinions. Check out the choices our students made about what they are currently reading.

It just takes some page protectors and dry erase markers help us make thinking visible. Seeing how students think about math helps all students add strategies to their problem-solving options. Math is about problem-solving. Math is about critical thinking. Math is about communication and creative thinking.

Most of the time when students leave for the day, the building quiets down and teachers settle in to grade papers and lesson plan, but sometimes things get a little crazy! This is what it looks like when the middle school choir teachers have an “idea”. Look for more in the variety show being released on 10/30!

Teenagers these days.... coordinate their own game of Poison Dart Frog when they have a few minutes before the first block starts. So many things are different this year and so many things are appreciated even more.

We are so happy that free breakfast and lunch continues for all of our students until the end of the school year! This is available to any and all hungry students (it seems like middle school students are always hungry). Students can choose from a hot and cold lunch item daily.

Communication skills are important to almost every career and and play a huge role in our relationships. Companies name communication as a skill that is very important, yet hard to hire. This is why our students practice communications skills in a variety of ways during an elective class we offer called Navigating Life.

In seventh grade science, students rotate around to stations during an activity to learn even more about electricity. The great thing about science is that it gives you a new lens to see everyday things in the world.

Here is even more to celebrate! Things are different and we are all working through new challenges. There really is no better way to teach problem-solving and resiliency than to model it like our fine arts department did. Enjoy this awesome collaborative work between the middle school choir and high school band! RP fight song. https://youtu.be/bnNM4FToT9E

A great week of spirit finished strong today with a lot of green and white. Other than the green and white (our favorite color), the best part was seeing the creativity of the students to turn many household items and paint into spirit wear. Today was a competition between the seventh and eighth grade and with a score of 154-149, the seventh grade comes out with a win! We will have ongoing opportunities for competition between grades throughout the year. Gooooo Rockets!

Throwback Thursday filled The hallways and classrooms with tie-dye, scrunchies, tight rolled jeans, varsity coats from the 90s, the “grunge” look, poodle skirts, and tons of spirit! We can’t wait to see all of the green and white tomorrow. Tomorrow is the first of a year long competition between the seventh and eighth grade.
