🎉 NEW AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM: RP CONNECT! 🎉

Looking for a place to connect, get homework help, hang out, or make the most of your time after school? We’re excited to introduce RP Connect, a brand-new after-school program in the LC!

📅 Tuesdays, Wednesdays & Thursdays
⏰ 3:00–4:45 PM
📍 Learning Commons

Think of RP Connect like an open house after school — come and go as you need! Teachers and, occasionally, NHS tutors will be available for homework help, but RP Connect is about more than academics. It’s a welcoming space to connect, work, try new things, and spend time with others after school.

Under skies that couldn’t have been more perfect, we watched a sea of caps, gowns, and bright futures shine. Today wasn’t just a ceremony. It was a reflection of the culture that makes Rocket City great. To our graduates: we are so proud of you. Your resilience, your kindness, your brilliance. As the sun set on the stadium, it felt like a sunrise for everything ahead. Congratulations class of 2026! 🎓✨

Earlier this week, our AP Physics students put their knowledge to the test -literally! Using the principles of physics, students designed and built cardboard boats before taking them to the water to see if they would float…and survive the wind! With strong winds making the challenge even tougher, 3 out of 5 teams successfully made it across! It was an awesome hands-on lesson in teamwork, problem-solving, engineering, and perseverance.

Our 9th grade students had a great time at the MiCareerQuest Career this week! This hands-on experience gave students the opportunity to explore a wide variety of careers, interact with professionals, and learn about future education and career pathways. From skilled trades and healthcare to technology and public service, students were able to see so many exciting possibilities for their future. It was an engaging and inspiring day, and we are grateful for the opportunity to help our students connect classroom learning with real-world careers!

Last week’s Annual Art Show was a great celebration of creativity from our Art 3, Art 4, and AP Art students. One of the best parts of the show was the incredible variety of artistic expression on display. Each work reflected the unique perspective and voice of its artist. The talent, creativity, and hard work our students put into their artwork was evident throughout the entire exhibit. We are proud of all of our students for sharing their creativity and passion!

Today was one of those moments that reminds you how powerful community can be. In a full gym, Zoey won a car! Watching her reaction of joy and gratitude brought many of us to tears. Thank you Rynberg's Car Company for your generous donation of a car. We have many more pictures to share from an amazing RP Pride Day, but couldn't wait to share this moment.

Today our RPHS Michigan History students visited RPEL to read the children’s books they created to DK and 1st grade classrooms! 📚💙 They did a phenomenal job sharing their stories, connecting with younger students, and bringing Michigan history to life.

For one of their final projects, students created original children’s books on Michigan topics of their choice, including the automobile industry in Detroit, Michigan’s state animals and trees, Michigan cities, and the landscapes that make our state unique. We are so thankful for the opportunity to partner together to make this experience happen! 🌲🐟🚗🦌🌊

In addition to building an ROV, our Robotics Team also has to write a nine page technical document, and create a poster to show a real-world application of their ROV! Students have poured many hours and a lot of creativity their competition poster, and now they need a boost from our community.

If you’re willing, please take a moment to vote for their poster using the link below. Students gain points by the number of votes that they can receive.

Here is the link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/spc26-real-world

Voters would select 404HS as the team to review, and there are sliders to work with under the list of links of posters.

Your support means more to them than you know.

Happy Earth Day!

Today, our biology classes traded in their desks for gloves and trash bags as they worked together to clean up our school campus. It was amazing to see their teamwork and dedication to making a difference right here in our own community!

Trash doesn’t just “go away.” When litter is left behind, it can:
• Harm wildlife who may ingest or get tangled in it
• Pollute our soil and water systems
• Break down into microplastics that enter the food chain
• Take years, or even centuries. to decompose

By taking action today, our students are learning that even small efforts can have a big impact on protecting our environment.

We are so proud of these students for stepping up, getting their hands dirty, and showing what it means to care for the planet we all share. 🌱💚

(Check out the photos to see their hard work in action!)
