The 7th grade Rockets remained perfect at home thanks to some solid team defense and clutch free-throws from Braylon Swain. Jenison played a solid fourth quarter to take a one point lead in the final seconds; however, Swain hit to big shots from the stripe and then the defense sealed the win. JC Tornes and Bryce Muskovin both had four steals in the effort while Swain, Connor McManus and Tornes kept the Wildcats off the glass. Tornes also led all scorers with 23 points. Next week has the Rockets back on the road in hopes of ending some woes away from home.

The 7th grade Rockets remained perfect at home as they used a 9-0 run late in the 4th quarter that was sparked by a three-point play by Jeremiah Plumhoff to squeak past a very good Hamilton squad. Great team defense and rebounding ended up being the difference with Connor McManus grabbing thirteen boards and Bryce Muskovin hustling for ten of his own along with five steals. RP scoring was led by a game high of twenty from JC Tornes and six from Braylon Swain. It’s another home stand for the Rockets on Wednesday as they look to get a little redemption against Jenison.

The road woes continue for the Rockets as they just can’t seem to get things going when they get off of a bus. At East Kentwood, it was the overall team help side defense and aggressiveness on the glass that were the crucial factors. Early miscues hurt the momentum as they stayed in the game through offensive efficiency from JC Tornes, Connor McManus and Lyric Stewart who put in sixteen, eleven and four respectively. Unfortunately, there were too many holes in the defense to capture a road win. They will look to rebound (pun intended) next week against Hamilton.

Cold shooting and soft gap defense doomed the Rockets last night when they traveled to Mona Shores in 7th grade basketball action. JC Tornes led all scorers with a dozen points and six rebounds. Connor McManus added four points and five rebounds. Landon Nash’s big bucket tried to rally the Rockets, but they simply could not deliver from the field as it marked their only bucket outside the painted area. Anything outside of two feet from the rim was just not happening as there was a tight lid on the hoop. They will attempt to end their road woes this week when they travel to Grand Haven to take on the Bucs.

The 7th grade Rocket basketball team played for a packed house against the visitors from Muskegon. As the crowd noise grew, so did the Rocket lead as they pushed to a 50-39 victory. A big three to end the half by Braylon Swain provided the momentum to dominate the second half. JC Tornes took over with a game high nineteen points and seven rebounds. Connor McManus was a huge target down low with eight points and six boards. Swain and Bryce Muskovin contributed seven and six points respectively while Easton Roberts, Braeden Monette and Lyric Stewart put in a combined ten. It was a superb homestand for the Rockets as they continue to show daily improvement.
