Last night the Rockets battled the Eagles of Hudsonville and came up a little short on the scoreboard 32-38. The game was back and forth the entire time and your Rockets played very well on both sides of the ball. Playing well on the offensive and defensive line were Paul Smith, Troy Swingley, Srecko Walker, Collin English and Bradley Gaunt. There was an amazing team effort from the 7th grade Rockets as they came storming back against the Bucs. Unfortunately, a couple of bad possessions and some poor free-throw shooting stalled the effort. JC Tornes, Connor McManus and Braylon Swain put up some big points for the home team while Easton Roberts, Rowan Moyer and Brendan Guikema played some of their best basketball of the year. As usual, Bryce Muskovin was all over the place to provide some much needed energy; sadly, a couple of quick fouls ended his night early. Also, a shout out to the Landons (Howland and Nash) who really provided solid minutes.

The 8th grade basketball team put forth one of their best efforts of the season last night and came away with a huge 50-42 win against Grand Haven. Marvin Moore led in scoring once again with 25 points, while Kristian Brown had a season's best game with 13. Coach Schlaff would like to publicly thank ALL of the players on the team for their hard work and dedication to improvement this season. Those players are Marvin Moore, Kristian Brown, Ethan Frang, Alex Kieft, Cohen Beck, Zach Kuerth, Emcee McLaurin, Carson McCollum, Travis Haynes, Jack Yonkman, Cory Judd, Owen Ritsema, and Blake Kiel.

Despite playing one of their better team games of the season, the 7th grade Rockets were unable to remain unbeaten at home. JC Tornes, Connor McManus and Braylon Swain led the offensive charge while Bryce Muskovin, Brendan Guikema and Easton Roberts led on the defensive end. Jeremiah Plumhoff and Lyric Stewart came off the bench to provide a boost as solid role players. Unfortunately for the Rockets, a well executed game winning shot at the buzzer rimmed out against the Sailors as they were ready to roll in OT.

Despite a strong second half and good team rebounding, the 7th grade Rockets couldn’t quite climb their way out of the giant hole they dug in the first half against West Ottawa. Six steals and seven rebounds from Bryce Muskovin led some inspired defense that was being aided by JC Tornes, Connor McManus, Braylon Swain and Brendan Guikema on the offensive end. McManus also contributed on the boards with ten rebounds. The Rockets look to bounce back at home next week on Monday against the visiting Sailors on Monday and Grand Haven on Wednesday.

Our Rocket Competitive Cheer Team placed second place over the weekend at Rockford. Despite the penalty’s the girls received they still beat both their personal records! They are ready to put in work and score even higher this week!

The 7th grade road woes continue as they couldn’t quite overcome the first half hole they put themselves in like they have so many times before. After a solid offensive effort by JC Tornes, Connor McManus, Braylon Swain and Bryce Muskovin got the Rockets back into the game against a tough Little Reds defense, they couldn’t quite put enough defensive stops together to tilt the game in their favor. Great gap defense by Lyric Stewart and Austin Burnham provided a slight boost but fell short. Wednesday gives them one last road opportunity to figure things out.
