It is a great day to think of all the things we are thankful for. Some of the things we are thankful for are monumental and others surround us daily within every day moments. At RPMS, we are thankful for STUDENTS that are kind, willing to take risks, push themselves to learn, admit when they can do better, help others, and bring meaning to “The Rocket Way”. We are thankful for our COMMUNITY that loves and supports our students, beyond even their own children, knowing that it takes a village. We are thankful for TEACHERS (used to describe any adult that chose to work in a school)  that put student needs at the front of what they do, continue to grow as professionals, understand the goofiness of middle school years, and work tirelessly to help our students grow socially and academically. Have a great Thanksgiving!
Did someone say frozen yogurt? Today one special class enjoyed a frozen yogurt party as part of our Rocket Recognition, courtesy of Yodels! We also had 5 students who enjoyed various prizes for demonstrating The Rocket Way. This was a great way to end a short week. Go Rockets!

Tomorrow all 7th grade students should wear GREEN and 8th grade students wear WHITE for the marking period celebration. Everyone bring your Rocket pride!!! Spread the word.
Staff versus Students went well this afternoon. Both teams showed a lot of grit, spirit, and athleticism. Staff definitely showed more athleticism than the students expected. The organization and teamwork for the students definitely increased as the game went on. Thank you to everyone that participated, helped with running the event, and to our great community that were amazing spectators.
Tomorrow after school, students will take on the staff in a flag football game from 3:00-4:00. Students, friends, and family are welcome to attend the event which is being held at the middle school football stadium. Admission will cost $1.00 and concessions will be available. All proceeds will go toward supporting positive recognition of RPMS students.
Aprender Espanol es muy importante. Te da opportunidades en el futuro. Por el apprendizaje de un segundo idioma su mente se extiende se exitiende (written by students).The world language goal for our students is that they are able to speak, listen, read, and write in Spanish about a variety of topics, especially things that happen in every day life. As we learn to speak in another language, it takes a lot of brain energy and courage to stumble and make mistakes. Students work with a lot of partner talk, group conversation, movies, music, infographics, text, social media, and real life issues. We are proud of our students as they continue to grow as communicators.
Every two years Reeths-Puffer Middle School offers an opportunity for travel to Europe. The next trip will take place in 2021 and we will travel to Switzerland, Italy, France, Monaco, and Spain. This is an amazing opportunity to see five different countries and experience many different cultures in one trip! There will be an informational parent meeting for anyone interested in the study trip to Europe on Tuesday, November 19th at 5:30 in the Middle School LMC.
Another Rocket Recognition Friday in the books at RPMS. Next weeks students and staff will compete in a flag football game on Wednesday after school from 3:00-4:00 PM. RPMS will also celebrate the first marking period with an assembly on Friday focusing on THE ROCKET WAY.
In Calling All Colors, our students deepen their understanding about differences in cultures and individual preferences and how that has an impact on the way that we interact and communicate with each other. We are super proud of the commitment that this group has to continuing to learn and grow.
The Rockets are battling the Maroons of Holland Christian tonight. 8th grade is up 22-14 at halftime.

Thank you Central Elementary for being great hosts to our middle school theater students today. Our Theater students prepared in class for their Semester One Story Time Performance. It was a great morning!
Rain or shine (or snow) our Muskegon school band is preparing to honor our veterans with a performance on Veterans Day!
Today RPMS welcomed the Conquerors Strength Team who shared an inspiring message on the impact of encouraging others. The Conquerors used multiple feats of strength to show the power of perseverance and encouragement. Imagine all we can accomplish with a willingness to encourage one another.
Congratulations to the R-PHS Marching Band. Several middle school students are also included in the high school marching band that took home a state championship this weekend at Ford Field in Detroit. We love seeing your medals worn with pride around the middle school. Under the direction of Mr. Sean Harris and Mr. Brian Olian, the R-PHS Marching Band continues a legacy of excellence. Marching band is a place where students learn discipline, hard work, team work, grit, pride, and respect in addition to music and performance skills. Congrats to all involved! Your hard work under the lights on the cement practice parking lot has paid off on the field

Thank you Mr. Lowenberg for sharing your knowledge and experiences with us. We heard your message that hate hurt and love heals loud and clear. To our RP community- you would have been so proud of the respect, pride, and integrity that was demonstrated by the 1,000+ students that were in attendance this morning. Thank you parents and staff for your flexibility in your morning routine to help make this happen. Opportunities to learn from a survivor are a gift.
Learning will take place as normal on Thursday. Costumes that meet the following are great:
-Face is not covered by the costume.
-No blood, gore, violence.
-The costume must still allow the student and other students to fully engage in learning.
-Costume must still meet dress code expectations for content and coverage.
We've included some throwback pictures of some of our 12th grade students in 8th grade.
Our students are going to go change the world and this group of 10 students is going to start by positively changing the middle school. Ten of our students have spent some of this week staying at Camp Miniwanca where they will brainstorm, develop, and bring a project back to the middle school to execute that will have a positive impact on our school. The students are from a leadership group that students can sign up for a called Rocket Reach Out. There are other students in the group as well that did not go to camp.
