There is a growing movement taking root! Step into The Gardening Club at Reeths-Puffer High School, and you will notice a vibrant and welcoming transformation.
We interviewed Mrs. Studier, who brings crafts, birdhouses, and her artistic outlook to the group. She runs this group alongside Mr. Obzut, who is more involved with landscaping and gardening. The gardening club meets on Wednesdays and Thursdays in the courtyard between the library and theater from 3 to 4:45.

Mrs. Studier states, “We did a lot of work since Spring to get it to a point where it felt like a clean and inviting space to be in”. The courtyard is a large space that wasn’t being utilized, so their goal was to rehabilitate it into a place where students and teachers can gather and “feel encouraged by the process.” One of Mrs. Studier's favorite aspects of this group is watching kids grow. She states, “Kids have learned about plants and are feeling more confident about transferring their abilities to other areas. It gives them a sense of ownership.” Being a part of the gardening club will allow students to obtain real-world skills, friendships, and creativity throughout the school year.

The club has about 15 kids and would love to have more helping hands. Their work is being put to good use during lunch and class time, where kids can have a quiet environment. Additionally, we had an incredible concert performed by the band Infield. The hope is to have more events throughout our school year to appreciate the welcoming environment The Gardening Club has provided for students.
