Band

As the days grow longer and the flowers begin to bloom, the excitement of spring fills the air at Reeths-Puffer High School. This past Sunday, May 4th, the Reeths-Puffer Band celebrated the year with their annual spring concert, displaying the talent, dedication, and hard work of all the students who make up the program. Along with music, there was a distribution of awards and scholarships of $1000 to many students due to their dedication and commitment throughout the year.  The spring concert wasn’t just an opportunity to hear incredible music, but the chance to celebrate the talent and growth of each student.

While the concert had various aspects, some students were willing to share their thoughts and excitement. Senior Emma Dvorak shared, “I'm proud of the hard work everyone has put in; both preparing and polishing up in pieces has been a lengthy process, so I'm excited to share how hard we've been working for both our families and the community.” Senior Hailey Alexander echoed these emotions,, “I'm excited and sad that this is our last performance and last spring performance as a whole band.” Junior Bailey Bohland added, “I'm looking forward to new music and new relationships next year, but I'm gonna miss the seniors so much.”

To recap a year of band, the Marching Band placed 8th at regionals and earned 1st place at the State competition. The Jazz Band, which represented RP at the West Michigan Showcase, earned a 1st-place title. There was even a documentary that captured the Marching Band through the eyes of the members. Ella Seimbida shared, “I am so grateful to have been a part of this band program for so long. It has been such a blessing to contribute to such a talented and hardworking community.”

The audience had the chance to listen to a variety of group and solo performances, including the Solo and Ensemble performing their pieces, the Jazz Band, Symphony Band, and Wind Ensemble. The band's hard work has not gone unnoticed. The early and late rehearsals and strong dedication have earned regional and state titles for the breathtaking performances they strive for with each performance.  The Reeths-Puffer band was eager to showcase their growth over the school year for everyone. Ella Siembida said, “I will always credit band for part of who I have become today, and I thank my directors and peers for all of the opportunities and memories they have provided me.”
