Prom

The end of every school year is a time of mixed emotions, and one event that adds to this is our high school prom. Everyone rushes to get ready for the big day; students buy dresses and flowers; parents prepare for photographs of their children… We have been gathering information from Student Council and some of the students who attended the dance to see their thoughts about how the day of prom went.

Ava Gibbs, an Officer of Student Council, illustrated the excitement she had at prom and at the events leading up to it. She stated that she was most excited about “dancing with my friends” and also mentioned that “dancing with everyone did end up being my favorite part, mostly because there was good music.” Reeths-Puffer got a new DJ for prom this year. Most students agreed that he played very good music and was involved with the crowd.

Garrett Olejarczyk stated that he most enjoyed “the dinner we ate at The Lakehouse.” He added that he also enjoyed “spending time with friends” at dinner and at the dance. He appreciated that Fricanos had their bar open for water and pop during the dance, since all the students moving around and dancing made the room pretty warm. Garrett’s favorite part of the dance itself was seeing his other friends and the music. “I moved around a lot to see all of my friends while dancing,” he stated. “...and the DJ was playing good music. I knew most of the songs.” Overall, Garrett expressed that he had fun at the dance; mostly because of eating out and seeing his friends.

Savannah Mancha and Alyssa Alexander shared how they felt about the theme and the plans that they had the day of prom, since they went with the same friend group. “Before the dance started, me and my group of friends all went downtown to take pictures” stated Alyssa. Savannah added, “after we all took pictures, we went to Taco Bell for dinner.” Many groups went to dinner before prom, but some people also needed a snack after the dance. The two girls both highlighted that the enchanted garden theme “went really well with most of the dresses” and that the decorations for the theme made the room feel very “fairy-like.” Savannah added that she liked the DJ this year. “He played good music and made the floor bounce,” Savannah mentioned. They both thought that the dance was well put together and they enjoyed being with their friends.

Overall, prom day was a success. Plans that were made based around the dance helped the whole day feel special and organized for many groups. Many students liked the music that the DJ played and had fun dancing with their friends. The Student Council worked hard to come up with a well-liked theme and a good DJ that would create a night to remember; long story short, they did.
