Leadership

Most students at RPHS have heard of a Leadership class, but many students have wondered what exactly is the Leadership class. The Leadership class is a group of students that dedicate their time into making Reeths-Puffer High School a better place for students and staff.

What do they do?

The Leadership Class is responsible for many different events that constantly evolve with the needs they see at the high school. Sometimes it’s showing appreciation to staff, acknowledging exceptional students, promoting school spirit, or helping the community.

Holden Earnest, a member of the Leadership class, shares that, “The leadership class does things around the school that impact the school for the better. We also will help people around our community to make it better.”

One thing they do every week, for example, is honor a student by naming them the “Pilot of the Pit” because they demonstrated honorable qualities such as pride, respect, integrity, leadership, spirit, involvement, and dedication.

Members of the Leadership Class sometimes will surprise the bus drivers with coffee and appreciation.

The leadership class also runs a food and essential pantry for students in need at Reeths-Puffer High School.

Earnest also shared, “I enjoy being a part of the class because we are always having fun, but we also get a lot of stuff done, and from my experience, that is the best group you can be a part of.”

If a student at RPHS wants to become part of the Leadership class, there are a few steps that they need to do. “Someone can become part of the leadership class by signing up for an interview and standing out from others by leading in any way that they can,” Earnest explains. Additionally, it does plan time for fun. As Ernest claims, “We do have some things in the workshop we are working on that might be a school wide event.”

Though the Leadership class requires a lot of work, it has its rewards. As Ian Wright explained, “It’s nice to be a part of a class that is bigger than yourself and impacts people in ways that you don’t know.”
