On Wednesday night, the 8th grade Lady Rockets played Jenison for the 2nd time to start the season. The tenacious defense of the Lady Rockets helped them to many steals and a halftime lead of 19 to 9.  The team held Jenison's best player to only 3 points in the first half with a great effort by Gracie Callender and Grace Tindall. The other players also chipped in by "digging" on defense. The 3rd quarter was played even 8 to 8. In the 4th quarter the Rockets started to make some of their close shots that had eluded them most of the game and scored their most in a quarter by scoring 21. Many great passes by Jaz Kops and Grace Tindall led to the easy buckets. The final score was R-P 48 and Jenison 24.  The Rockets will travel to Muskegon on Monday. Leading scorers for the team were: Gracie Callender (2 points), Ella Voorhies (2 points), Wren Tryska (4 points), Grace Tindall (8 points), Ash David (8 points), Olivia Ambler (with a career high of 11 points), and Jaz Kops (13 points).  Great job by the rowdy student section as well.
