The 8th grade Lady Rockets traveled to East Kentwood Valleywood on Thursday to take on the Falcons. There might be many reasons for a the Rockets slow start. Maybe it was the food comatose from Super Bowl Sunday. Maybe it was the left over excitement of Valentines Day on Monday. Maybe it was the full moon this week.  Maybe it was the long bus ride to Grand Rapids. Quite possibly it was the girls looking ahead to having the basketball production of Hamilton visit the RP Middle School gym on Wednesday. What ever the reason the 8th grade Lady Rockets "decided" it would be a great idea to spot the Falcons a 12 to 1  lead.  Poor rebounding and poor shooting led to the early deficit. But it's not how you start it is how you finish and boy did the ladies finish. With the thought of going to Culver's without a victory, the Rockets turned up the defense and went on to outscore the Falcons 49 to 12 over the rest of the game.  The final score was RP 50 and Valleywood 24.  The Lady Rockets will take on the Hawkeyes of Hamilton on Wednesday in a re-match of a close game last year.  Leading scorers for the Rockets were: Taylor Long with 2 points (Congrats to Taylor on her first career points!).  Hope Latsch had 4 points. Sara Carlson had 5 points. Amani Starr had 6 points. Jayla Trepanier had 6 points. Jersi Bilek had 8 points. Emma Lamphere had 8 points. Mallorie Messer had a team high 11 points.
