The 8th Grade Lady Rockets picked up their first win of the season by defeating a scrappy West Ottawa team. The game was definitely a game of runs. West Ottawa opened up with a 12 to 6 lead. The Rockets answered back with a 20 to 0 run to take a 14 point lead. West Ottawa then answered with a 10 to 0 run to cut the lead to 4. The Rockets answered with a 7 to 0 run to help seal the 33 to 27 victory. West Ottawa played mostly a zone so the Rockets took a lot of outside shots. Big three point shots by Hope Latsch, Sara Carlson, Jersi Bilek, and 2 by Amani Starr helped the Rockets to victory. The team plays again today versus Jenison at Jenison. Leading scorers for the Rockets were Maya VandenBosch with 2 points. Carlee Bowen with 2 points. Hope Latsch with 3 points. Jersi Bilek with 3 points. Sara Carlson with 3 points. Mallorie Messer with 4 points. Emma Lamphere with 6 points. Amani Starr had a team high 10 points.
