Jersi Bilek slashes to the hole against East Kentwood.

The 7th Grade Ends the Season in Style with a Huge Win Against East Kentwood

It took a team effort to dash the hopes of the visitors from East Kentwood. Group rebounding, gap controlled pressure and sure passing secured the victory for the ever-improving Rockets. Every girl contributed in their own unique way with each either scoring, rebounding or creating a steal—all were present with four quarters played and at least one box checked in the stat line. Leading the surge was the stellar play of Emma Lamphere who rose to the challenge against a tight zone defense with eighteen points and four rebounds. Mallorie Messer was launching threes on her way to ten points. Jersi Bilek added five of her own to go with two rebounds all while sacrificing her left hip. Maya VandenBosch was an all-around defensive juggernaut with four rebounds and three steals; meanwhile, Keeley Cole quietly put together a solid game with help in the press and two rebounds to go with two steals. As the girls sat in Seminole in order to negate the one-person show of East Kentwood, Hope Latsch played the defensive point flawlessly while recording three steals from that vantage point. The team grew exponentially as the season wore on, and they deserved this team win as they led from start to finish. There is so much to be proud about when it comes to this group.
