The Rocket Comeback Falls Short Against the Zeeland Chix

Despite falling behind by as much as twelve in the first half, a superb team effort got the Rockets to with one point of the visitors from Zeeland East at the half. Unfortunately for the girls, they found themselves down by sixteen early in the fourth quarter. That’s when the Rockets put the defensive clamps down on the Chix. Hope Latsch, Mallorie Messer and Jersi Bilek had eighteen steals out of the aggressive trap of Seminole to run RP back into the game. They even had a chance to make it a one possession game with a minute to go; however, the rim was not cooperating with their offensive desires as they dropped a barn burner by six. Latsch had a breakout game with a near double-double as she netted eleven points and nine steals. Messer put together her own best performance as she fell just short of her first triple-double with a dozen points, a dozen rebounds and six steals. Also pacing the strong team surge was Emma Lamphere with six, Bilek with four and Sophia Wathen with a huge bucket to draw in the Rockets late in the contest. Once they figure out the press and boxing out, this group is going to really start to topple these conference foes.
