Screen and Roll for the Rockets

8th Grade Lady Rockets fall to talented Holland Christian

The 8th grade team traveled to Holland Christian on Monday to take on the "Maroon Giants"... and that they were. The Rockets fell to a tall and talented team on Monday. A slow start led to the Rockets falling behind by 27 points at halftime. The game was within 3 points of turning into a running clock. With father time looking over his shoulder, the last thing  Coach Pallett wanted to see was a running clock. Coach Pallett challenged the girls to forget about the first half and show a little heart in the second half. That is exactly what the girls did. The team outscored the Maroon Giants in the second half and never allowed them to get to the running clock. Ultimately, the Rockets lost 28 - 50 but showed a lot of determination in the second half. Coach Pallett is proud of the second half effort and is challenging the girls to finish strong with just two games left.  Our next game is Wednesday at home vs. Zeeland Cityside.  Leading scorers: Maddy Ingersoll - 2 points, Chloe Brainard - 2 points, Kyleigh Bilek - 2 points, Maddilynn Dyer - 3 points, Jenna Terpstra - 9 points and Savannah Lockwood - 10 points.
