Rockets look to hit the post player

Rockets lose tough battle to Muskegon

It was a dark and stormy night........the "slaps" of thunder could be heard just outside the Reeths-Puffer Middle School gym.  Inside the gym, the 8th grade Lady Rockets played host to Muskegon in a "foul fest" on Wednesday night. The teams combined for 35 fouls and 50 free throws.  Offensively, the basketball just seemed a little big for the basket on Wednesday. The team squandered many scoring opportunities throughout the game with close shots just not falling.  Not even Coach Pallett praying to the basketball Gods to please let one go in helped. The team fell behind by double digits at one point. Determination, grit and a never-give-up attitude by the girls brought the score within 4 in the second half but a late surge by Muskegon put the game out of reach. The team lost 32-42.  Next game is Monday against Holland Christian.  Leading scorers: Chloe Brainard 2-points, Savannah Lockwood - 2 points, Kiera Ketner - 3 points, Maddilynn Dyer - 4 points,  Mya Swain - 8 points and Jenna Terpstra - 10 points
