Rockets playing defense against Mona Shores

Revenge Week continues for 8th Grade Lady Rockets

This summer during the week of August 9th the Discovery Channel will have their famous "Shark Week". This week the 8th Grade lady Rockets had their own week...."Revenge Week". After losing a combined 4 games to Holland West Ottawa and Mona Shores last year the TEAM set their sights on some good old fashioned payback. Part one was played on Monday as the ladies defeated West Ottawa .  Part two was played out last night. The Mona Shores Sailors came into the R-P gym with a record of 6-0. It didn't look good early as the Sailors jumped out to an early 10 - 3 lead in the first quarter. The Rockets defense in the first quarter looked as fake as the mechanical shark in the original movie Jaws that  aired in  1975.  Lucky for coach Pallett he was the only one on the team alive then and the girls started playing 21st century defense the rest of the way.  Like a feeding frenzy of hungry sharks the lady Rockets hustled for loose balls, boxed out and got into great help defense. The lady Rockets held Mona Shores to 1 point in the 4th quarter and defeated their rivals and previously undefeated Sailors 23-22. The lady Rockets will look to not have their "bellies full" and become complacent as they take on Grand Haven on Monday. Leading scorers: Maddilynn Dyer - 2 points, Kierra Ketner - 2 points, Mya Swain - 2 points, Kyleigh Bilek - 3 points, Savannah Lockwood - 3 points,  Lexi Daggett - 10 points
