The Reeths-Puffer competitive cheer squad seems to be peaking as it prepares to host its own invitational tournament on Saturday.

The Rockets displayed great form and finished in first place in Division 2 on Monday at the Grandville Invitational, outdistancing second-place Muskegon.

R-P had an overall score of 746.56, which was the team’s second-highest mark of the season.

The Rockets scored a 230.6 in Round 1 (execution), a 218.26 in Round 2 (overall skills) and a 297.8 in Round 4 (stunting). The team’s Round 2 score was 10 points higher than the previous week.

The team’s next event will be at home on Saturday at the Reeths-Puffer Invitational as the Rockets continue to prepare for the upcoming state tournament.

“Our next competitions will give us time and space to make changes and adjustments to maximize our score before tournament time,” said R-P Assistant Coach Emily Bouchard. “Both our district and regional competitions are going to be challenging, and we must place in the top four to move through the postseason.

“We’re excited to be in our home gym this Saturday with our community there to support us!”
