The Reeths-Puffer hockey team broke into the victory column in a big way on Saturday, beating Lenawee United 8-1 at Optimist Arena in Jackson.

Tyler Tindall led the way with three goals and one assist while freshman Tyler Cuti scored his first varsity goal and added three assists.

R-P' s Tanner Bonjernoor, who stopped 16 shots on goal and had an assist.

Dewey Modaff had one goal and one assist while Jaxon Stone, Carson Harwood and Bucky Martin all recorded single goals. Isaiah Winters had two assists and Connor Stawski, Tanner Bonjernoor, Jake Lee and Avery Freeland each had one.

Bonjernoor played the majority of the game in goal and had 16 saves on 17 shots before being relieved by Mark Stewart, who stopped all seven shots he faced in his first varsity game.

The victory was a nice turnaround for the Rockets, who lost 5-0 on Friday night to Jackson United on the first leg of their holiday weekend road trip. R-P had seven penaltiesin that game and gave up three power play goals. Goalie Isaiah Van Noord was the main bright spot, stopping 35 of the 40 shots he faced.

"This was a good rebound game for us,” said R-P Coach Ryan Martin. “Our power play was four for five and our penalty kill was 100 percent. It’s exciting to see scoring up and down the lineup with two younger guys leading the way. We still feel like there is a lot of room to improve. We still took too many penalties and didn’t compete as hard as we are capable of for a full 51 minutes.”
