R-P's Paige Anderson

Reeths-Puffer golfer Paige Anderson is headed back to the state finals.

The junior, who qualified for state for the first time last season, shot an 86 on Tuesday and tied for fourth place at an MHSAA Division 2 regional tournament at Arrowhead Golf Course in Lowell.

That finish was good enough to send her back to the finals, where she finished 21st a year ago.

“I am very happy for Paige,” said R-P golf coach Matt Pallett. “She has had a great season. It would have been tough if she did not make it out of regionals today. Regionals have a lot of pressure. It is one event. If you don’t play well your season is done. Paige did not have her best stuff but battled through to qualify for the state finals for the second year in a row.”

As a team, the Rockets ended their season by finishing 12th in the 14-team field. Abby Haak was second on the team with a 112, which was a personal best score. She was followed by Ella Klimsza (120) and Avery Luna (127).

Sophomore Rowan Bluhm, who has been shooting well in recent weeks, was forced to withdraw after reaggravating the hand injury that forced her to miss the first part of the season.

“I am very fortunate to be able to coach a fine group of young ladies,” Pallett said. “Their parents have raised some good ones, and the whole community should be proud of their efforts this year.”.
