RP XC Regional Meet
RP guys XC team went into the Regional meet with a few objectives in mind (not in any particular order).

1) Klay Grant qualifying for the state meet which wouldn’t be difficult since he was ranked 4th and the top 7 individuals qualify.
2) Jaxon Allen qualifying for the State Finals.  This we knew was going to take a kind of race that he had to execute extremely well, finish on empty, and hope others had an off day.
3) As for the team…we wanted to run smart and finish with empty tanks.  That would hopefully result in personal best  times and potentially an improvement on the 6th place ranking out of the 18 teams.

Our result was spectacular!
Klay took 3rd place, ran another season best of 15:43 which is the 2nd fastest time in RP XC history and advances to the XC State Finals for a third time in his high school career.
Jaxon Allen, sophomore, executed his race plan with Senior like maturity and precision.  Jaxon’s first mile was right on and he was in 17th place. He later moved up to 14th and then 11th.  He then nailed his 2 mile split and with 600 meters to go he was in 9th place.  Jaxon was looking worn as his competitors all around appeared to be summoning more strength.  However, Jaxon dug deep again and not only held off the swift moving upperclassmen but pushed deeper and passed another guy to finish in 8th place and running a 21 second personal best time of 16:22. He is now the 2nd fastest Sophomore in RP history.
Finally, the result of our team object… RP was ranked 6th going in to Regionals and 5th place was predicted to beat us by 21 points.  The guys, Tate Bradley, Kye Grant and Jamie Neel ran so well with Klay and Jaxon, the team took to 5th out of the 18 teams distanced the other team by 31 points.
I am very proud of this team and the commitment they have made to each other and embracing hard work!
This was another GREAT DAY to be a ROCKET!
