The Reeths-Puffer boys golf team literally saved its best for last, and ended its season on a pretty fun note.
The Rockets competed in a Division 1 regional tournament on Tuesday at Spruce Run Golf Course in Traverse City and had their best team outing of the season, shooting a combined 324 and taking seventh place out of 20 teams.
R-P junior Jordan Benkert had the best day of his varsity career, shooting a team-best round of 78 with birdies on two holes.
Sophomore Beckitt Johnson tied for second place on the team with a 79, which was also the best round of his career.

Senior Kristian Brown also shot a 79 and freshman Ian Vokal rounded out the R-P scorers with an 88.
Senior Beckett Mathes also competed and shot a 96.
“The team really had a good day,” said R-P head coach Matt Pallett. “We scored our best round as a team today on a very difficult course. I am proud of the way that we ended our season.
“The last event of the season is always tough. I have a total of three seniors who will be moving on. All three have been with the program for four years. Beckett Mathes and Carter Hekkema both made big steps this year and were regular contributors on the varsity. Kristian Brown is a four-year varsity player.
“I am appreciative of all of my seniors. They are a lot of fun to be around and will truly be missed.”
