Reeths-Puffer senior pitcher Lainey McDaniel hit an impressive career milestone on Thursday.
The Rocket ace collected her 600th career strikeout in the second game of a non-conference doubleheader against Zeeland East.
Overall it was an up-and-down night for the Rockets.
The good part came in a 4-3 victory in Game 1. The score was tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh inning when Tessa Ross drew a bases loaded walk to drive in the winning run.

Ross, McDaniel, Olivia Ambler and Makayla Jewett each had an RBI for the Rockets. Caydence Rettinghouse had two hits and McDaniel pitched a complete game victory, striking out nine.
The Rockets lost Game 2 by a 10-9 score. They led early, fell behind when Zeeland East scored six runs in the top of the seventh inning (helped by four RP errors), and fell short in a comeback attempt in the bottom of the seventh.
McDaniel had three hits while Ross and Lorelai Herrygers each added two. Ross and Herrygers each knocked in three runs.
McDaniel pitched five innings with six strikeouts.
The Rockets are now 21-7 on the season.
