The Reeths-Puffer boys golf team had its best 18-hole performance of the season and finished in sixth place on Friday in its own Rocket Invitational at Lincoln Golf Club.

The Rockets, competing as the R-P “Green Team,” finished with a combined score of 327. The Mona Shores ‘A” squad won the event with a 306, followed by Ludington (308), Mattawan (311), Jenison (312) and the Mona Shores ‘B’ team (322) rounding out the top five.

R-P was led by senior Kristian Brown, who shot a 76, with birdies on three different holes. He finished sixth in the individual standings and won a top 10 medal.

“Kristian Brown put a great round of golf together,” said R-P head coach Matt Pallett. “He went for the victory at the end, which ended up costing him a little. I am very proud of his effort today.”ttt

Ian Vokal shot an 81 for R-P, Beckitt Johnson had an 82 and Jordan Benkert came in at 88.

“It was a great day for golf for the team,” Pallett said. “We shot a season best 327. It was great to see four guys put good rounds together for once. I am very proud of my team. I look forward to seeing how we finish the season.”

R-P’s “White Team” also competed, shooting a combined 391 and finishing in 18th place.

Senior Carter Hekkema led the team with a 95, followed by Liam Thomas (98), Bentley Bennett (100) and Easton Roberts (104).

The Rockets will host the final O-K Green conference jamboree of the season on Monday.
