Dear Rockets,

I’m heartbroken for our kids, coaches, and community to share the news that our 20-21 football and sideline cheer seasons have been postponed by the MHSAA until the spring of 2021. While it’s understandable that the MHSAA made this decision due to the potential Covid-19 health risks to our kids, coaches, parents, and community as a whole, it is and will be very difficult for all of us to face the reality that football and sideline cheer will not be played/participated in this fall.

I commend our kids and coaches, both in football and sideline cheer, for the hard work they’ve invested this summer to prepare for a season which has now been put on hold. Their preparation and execution of practices under the MHSAA’s Covid-19 guidelines has been exemplary in both actions and results.

We will now move forward and continue to provide as many opportunities as are allowed by the MHSAA to maximize the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of our student-athletes. This will be accomplished through purposeful work and a belief in ourselves in knowing that we’ll maximize every opportunity in the future.

At this time, all other fall sports are still scheduled to be played this fall. More details on these sports will be released by the MHSAA on 08-19-20.

Please let me know if you have any questions and as always....Go Rockets!

Sincerely,

Tony Schmitt, CAA
