Reeths-Puffer fans will mostly remember Marvin Moore as a big scorer for the boys basketball team, but the senior is also a pretty talented track athlete.
Moore continued to add to his list of varsity accomplishments on Friday by winning the championship in the 400-meter dash with a time of 50.97 seconds at the annual Greater Muskegon Athletic Association meet.
Evan McHugh was R-P’s other event champion, winning the pole vault competition by clearing 13 feet, six inches.

Mona Shores ran away with the title with 117 points, followed by Whitehall (94). Fruitport (52), Reeths-Puffer (51) and Oakridge (48) rounding out the top five.
McHugh rounded out a very good day by finishing in second place in both the 110-meter high hurdles and the 300-meter hurdles. London Rankin took second in the 100-meter dash.
Moore, McHugh and Rankin won medals for their first and seconds place efforts.

“Our field events performed pretty well today in the cold temps,” said R-P head coach Don Ketner. “Evan McHugh continued to get better in pole vault and hurdles this week! It was great to see Marvin Moore get back on the track and win again!
“Gabe Luna set another personal best in the 1600-meter run and London Rankin hit a personal best in the 200 in the cold. Overall, a really good but cold day.”
