The Reeths-Puffer lacrosse team has had some close calls with victory over the past few weeks, only to fall a little bit short.
That didn’t happen on Tuesday, however, when the Rockets came to life early, took the lead and kept it to gain their third victory of the season, an 8-5 win over Grand Rapids Northview.
Senior Cohen Beck was the hero, scoring four of his team’s goals.
R-P is now 3-9 on the season.
“Overall, our defense did a great job tonight holding them for the most part to one goal per quarter,” said R-P head coach Josh Robidoux. “It really gave our offense a break from feeling they need to pour on the pressure, and we were able to take better looks against their talented goalie.

“Our freshmen did a great job contributing in all areas tonight. Zander Madole has a solid game in net and made some great saves. Camden Beck played his first full game on varsity and had some key defensive turnovers. Chance Southworth scored in transition early to put us up, and Jax Sieplinga found the back of the net once again.
“It's great to see their growth throughout this season, and it gets us pumped for what's to come with them.”
Northview scored the first goal in the first quarter, then the Rockets answered with goals by Garrison Niklasch and Southworth and led 2-1.
Beck scored twice in the second quarter and R-P led 4-2 at halftime.
Beck and Niklasch scored in the third quarter, giving the Rockets a 6-3 lead heading into the fourth.
Sieplinga and Beck scored in the final quarter, nailing down the victory.
