Make that 13 straight victories for the exciting Reeths-Puffer softball team.

The undefeated Rockets continued to plow through their schedule on Thursday night, sweeping two easy wins from Fremont in non-conference action at Reeths-Puffer High School.

R-P won the opener 11-1 after scoring six runs in the first inning, two in both the second and third and one in the fourth.

The Rockets pounded out 13 hits, led by Lainey McDaniel, who had a single and an inside-the-park home run, as well as Ava Gibbs, Kenzie Jacobs, Makayla Jewett, Caydence Rettinhouse and Tessa Ross, who all had two singles.

Jewett pitched the entire game, scattering eight hits with no walks and four strikeouts.

R-P completed the sweep with a 12-3 victory in the nightcap.

The Rockets again struck early with eight runs in the first inning, followed by one in the second, one in the third and two in the fifth.

Caydence Rettinhouse

McDaniel had a huge game at the plate with four hits, including three singles and a double. Jacobs had three single while Rettinhouse, Lorelei Herrygers and Madi Reichert each added two.

Jacobs, Herrygers, Rettinhouse, Gibbs and Ross each knocked in two runs.

Jewett pitched the first two innings, allowing five hits with one walk while striking out two. McDaniel tossed the last five, scattering three hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.

“It was a true team effort tonight,” said R-P head coach Sarah Bayle. “We’re really starting to lock in on the little details and clean things up in every phase of the game. I’m excited to see the girls build on this momentum and keep it going. This group is something special!”
