The Reeths-Puffer boys track team found some early success in a few events at its season-opening meet at Whitehall last week.
The Rockets took first place in three events and finished second in the overall team standings.
Whitehall won with 94.5 points, followed by R-P with 40 and Holland with 37.5.

Winning their events for Reeths-Puffer were London Rankin in the 200-meter dash (23.30), Ethan Rolewicz in the 300-meter hurdles (42.62), as well as the Rockets’ 4x100 relay team (Rankin, Marvin Moore, Mason Darke and Emcee McLaurin) with a time of 43.28.
Evan McHugh was also a big point-producer for R-P, finishing second in three events – the 110-meter hurdles, the 300-meter hurdles and the high jump.
Moore finished second in the 100-meter dash and Hudson Roberts was second in the discus.
Taking third for R-P were Jamichael Williams in the long jump and high jump, Roberts in the shot put and Rolewicz in the 200-meter dash.

“Good first meet with a lot of personal records, but we have a lot a lot of learning to do on how to prepare for the meet, execute the event plan, and being prepared for the next event,” said R-P head coach Don Ketner.
“Evan McHugh had a phenomenal day with three runner-up results. Excited to see where he goes from here. Great kid and a hard worker.
“We are excited to see how the boys grow and respond for the next meet against a talented team from Byron Center with great depth. It's going to be exciting!”
