It was a frustrating night on the lanes for the Reeths-Puffer boys bowling team.

After losing to Byron Center last week, the Rockets were hoping to get some payback against the Bulldogs on Monday, but ended up settling for a 15-15 tie in an O-K Green conference match.

Reeths-Puffer is now 4-4-1 overall on the season and 6-5-1 in conference play.

R-P lost the first baker game 160-134 and tied in the second 166-166. Byron Center won the two baker bonus points and led 8-2 at that point.

The Rockets rebounded and won the first regular game 894-837 to gain four points.

Tanner Bahr (team-high 223 score), Ryleigh Beebe, Karsen Boeskool and Carter Hekkema won their individual matchups in the first regular game, adding four more team points.

R-P led the match 10-9 at that point.

The Rockets lost the second regular game by a very close 815-814 score, giving Byron Center four points. The Bulldogs also gained another two points by winning two individual matchups in the game.

Knox Estepp (team-high 199 score), Bahr and Boeskool won their individual matches for R-P in the second game, tackling on three more points for the Rockets.

Byron Center led 15-13 after the second game, but R-P took the two bonus points for total regular game pins, resulting in the final 15-15 tie.

“I'm pleased that we bounced back after losing to BC last week, but it's a bit frustrating to settle for a tie,” said R-P head coach Craig Alderink. “This is a match we should have won. One pin anywhere in the second baker game or the second regular game would have given us the victory.

"I want to recognize Knox Estepp for his performances recently. He has made the most of his limited opportunities and bowled another really nice game today.”
