The Reeths-Puffer boys basketball team is just one of four O-K Green conference squads that have struggled against powerful Muskegon this season.
Mona Shores, Caledonia and Jenison all lost by big margins, too.
R-P took another turn challenging the Big Reds on Tuesday and had a rough time, falling 64-25. It was the Rockets’ second loss to the Big Reds this season.
Reeths-Puffer fell to 3-14 overall and 1-5 in conference play. Muskegon improved to 12-1 and 5-0.
The game was the second in two nights for the Rockets, who were coming off a big win over Byron Center on Monday.
Artis Williams
The Big Reds took control early, outscoring the Rockets 21-5 in the first quarter. The second quarter was far more competitive, with Muskegon only having an 18-15 edge.
R-P struggled badly in the second half, producing only five points, all in the third quarter.
“We were outrebounded and we struggled to move the ball around,” said R-P head coach JR Wallace. “I do appreciate our effort in back-to-back games. I am looking forward to getting better in practice before our Friday game.”
Sophomore Artis Williams had a very good second quarter for the Rockets, scoring all eight of his points, including two three-pointers.
R-P will host Caledonia in another conference game on Friday.
