The Reeths-Puffer boys bowling team has struggled at times this season, but the Rockets still keep plowing ahead, and win more than they lose.
They made it two victories in a row on Monday with a 24-6 win over Caledonia in O-K Green conference play.
Reeths-Puffer is now 6-4 overall and 4-3 in the conference standings.
The Rockets won the first baker game 157-134 but lost the second 162-142. R-P won the combined pin baker bonus points in a very close count, 299-296, and took a 6-4 lead.
Carter Hekkema
R-P won the first regular game 927-807. Three Rockets won their individual matchups in the game – Liam Copenhaver (high score of 244), Ryleigh Beebe and Carter Hekkema.
R-P led 13-6 at that point.
The Rockets also won the second regular game, 944-651. Hekkema (high score of 254), Beebe, Copenhaver, Tanner Bahr and Karsen Boeskool all won their matchups.
R-P completed its scoring by claiming the total pin regular game bonus points.
“This was another important conference win,” said R-P head coach Craig Alderink. “The boys bowled well again in the regular games, but continued to struggle a bit in the bakers. I'm still hopeful we can improve our baker scores so we can reach our end of season goals.”
