Aiden Neal is having a very impressive breakout season for the Reeths-Puffer wrestling team.
The sophomore, who wrestles at 165 pounds, continued his progress on Saturday, posting a 5-0 record, with every win coming by pin, at the Shelby Super Duals.
Neal pinned Mason County Central’s Parker Overmyer, Sparta’s Blake Brackett, Decatur’s Aidan Wiggins, Fruitport’s Blair Zimmer and Kent City’s Jackson Carr. Wiggins is ranked sixth in the state in Division 4.
Neal, who was 23-17 last year as a freshman, is now 30-13 this season with a lot of action still to come.
“Aiden is starting to turn into a great wrestler,” said R-P head coach Brad Cowles. “He’s been getting bonus points for R-P almost every match.”

The Rockets had an overall good day in the team competition, posting a 4-1 record and taking second place in the tournament.
They defeated Mason County Central 75-4, Sparta 58-15, Decatur 33-29 and Kent City 36-35. Both Decatur and Kent City are ranked in the state.
R-P’s only loss was to Fruitport, 43-24.
“Overall the boys wrestled very well all day,” Coach Cowles said. “They have been putting in the work and the hard work showed. Decatur and Kent City are smaller schools, but were very competitive.
“Against Fruitport, we gave up too many points early and just couldn't get things started.”
Landon Learn (113 pounds) and Hunter Eek (144) were also 5-0 for Reeths-Puffer. Learn, a freshman, improved to 37-0 on the season.
Andrew Corradin (175) won four matches for the Rockets while Lyric Stewart (190), Cory Judd (132) and Travis Henderson (126) all won three.
The Rockets, now 23-7 on the season, will visit Mona Shores on Wednesday in the final conference dual match of the season, then will compete in the O-K Green conference tournament on Friday at Byron Center.
