Reeths-Puffer bowler Karsen Boeskool collected the first medal of his high school career by finishing in sixth place in the individual standings at Saturday’s Fruitport Invitational at Northway Lanes.
Boeskool rolled a 584 series with scores of 160, 220, and 204. He beat 122 other bowlers in the tournament.
“Congratulations to Karsen on his very strong sixth place finish," said R-P head coach Craig Alderink. “He has bowled some really nice scores this season and was able to roll three good games on Saturday and finish in the top 10 for the first time.”
Boeskool’s performance was the highlight of a couple of challenging days for the R-P boys team.
R-P finished in eight place in the qualifying rounds at the Fruitport Invitational and missed making the four-team tournament playoff round by 244 pins.

On Monday the Rockets returned to dual match action against a strong Jenison squad and lost 22-8 in O-K Green conference action.
They won the first baker game 195-184 and took an early 4-0 lead in the match. Jenison won the second baker game and the bonus points to take a 6-4 lead.
The trouble came in the two regular games. R-P lost the first game 995-984, and the second game 913-874, giving Jenison eight points. The Wildcats also won the two regular game bonus points.
Boeskool, Liam Copenhaver and Tanner Bahr won their individual matchups in Game 1, each earning one team point for R-P. Copenhaver had the high score with a 231.
Carter Hekkema won his matchup in Game 2 with a 213 score, and earned R-P’s final point of the day.
Despite the outcome, Coach Alderink was pleased with the way the Rockets played on Monday, particularly compared to Saturday.
“This was a much better team performance than we had over the weekend,” he said. “I'm glad to see the boys bounce back and bowl well against a very tough Jenison team. Even though the final score of 22-8 doesn't show it, we were very close to winning this match.”
