The Reeths-Puffer wrestling team had a “statement day” by sweeping to victory in all of its matches at Saturday’s Dick Sandee Memorial Duals at Grand Rapids Union High School.
The Rockets roared to a perfect 5-0 record, and none of the matches were particularly close.
Reeths-Puffer downed Hudsonville 48-25, Dewitt 55-21, Kenowa Hills 53-15, Ravenna 72-11 and Forest Hills Northern 51-9.
R-P is now 11-2 on the season.
The Rockets had six wrestlers post perfect 5-0 records, including Aiden Neal (165 pounds), who pinned four opponents and won the other match by medical forfeit.

“He’s one of the top winners on the team,” said R-P head coach Brad Cowles about Neal. “He’s scrappy and unorthodox. He’s one of the guys we can rely on to score bonus points.”
Tanner Cowles (150 pounds) was 5-0 with four pins and one technical fall. R-P’s freshman standout Landon Learn also posted a perfect record at 113 pounds with three pins and one victory by technical fall.
Senior Cory Judd (132 pounds) was 5-0 with three pins and one technical fall and Travis Henderson (120 pounds) was 5-0 with two pins and one technical fall.

Senior Jake Rozycki (157) was 4-1 with two pins. Micah Mills (120) went 2-0 in his matches.
“Saturday was a statement day,” Coach Cowles said. “Grit. Heart. Relentless aggression. Our boys didn’t just win matches, they dominated them. The bonus points piled up because our guys hunted down finishes.”
R-P’s Sidney Shakelford competed in Saturday's Lady Warrior Invitational at Chippewa Hills High School and placed third in her weight class with a 5-1 record.
