The Reeths-Puffer girls bowling team, with a lot of new starters this winter, kicked off the duel match portion of its schedule on Monday by falling to Grand Haven 28-2.

The Rockets were swept in the baker round and in Game 1. Jaslynn Wynsma led the team in the first game with a 117 score.

R-P captured two points in Game 2, with Kaila Uhlig winning her head-to-head matchup with a team-high score of 155 and Destani Vallalpando winning with a score of 142.

“While not the start they wanted, all the girls are showing growth and improvement week after week, and they are energized to do what needs to be done to continue to get better,” said R-P head coach Karla Buchen.

 

The Rockets started the season on Friday at the O-K Green Conference Preseason Tournament. It’s not known how well the team did, because the conference has yet to release the final results of the tournament.

Villalpando had the team’s high score for Game 1 of the tournament with a 122, while Uhlig had the high score for Game 2. The girls finished the tournament with 956 total pins.

The Rockets were back at it on Saturday, competing in the Jenison Invitational. They finished in seventh place with a total score of 1,713. Villalpando had the high score for the team in Game 1 with a 146 and Uhlig had the high score for Game 2 with a 127.
