The Reeths-Puffer boys bowling team got off to a strong start to the new season on Friday by finishing second at the O-K Green Preseason Conference Tournament at Sherman Bowling Center.

The Rockets finished in second place with a total score of 3,662. Defending conference champion Jenison took first place with a 3,830 score.

R-P’s improvement from the same tournament last year is obvious in the numbers. A year ago the Rockets finished in fourth place with a 2,915 score. They also had a single team game total of 1,074, surpassing last year's high of 1,048.

Tanner Bahr

Four Rockets had very good days.

Tanner Bahr rolled a 640 series with a high game of 245. He was followed by Carter Hekkema (636 series, 257 high game), Liam Copenhaver (609 series, 234 high game) and Karsen Boeskool (581 series, 206 high game).

“This was a great start to the season, much better than last season's disappointing results at the same tournament,” said R-P head coach Craig Alderink. “Our seniors are another year older and have a ton of experience and performed very well.

“Peyton Estepp, Knox Estepp, Colten Geisler, and Sean Brennan got to take turns filling our fifth spot with Ryleigh Beebe out of town for the weekend, and all four of them did a nice job and got some valuable experience with the varsity team.”
