The Reeths-Puffer wrestling team went into its first two matches of the season on Wednesday with two open spots in the lineup, against two quality opponents.
Often that will lead to trouble, but the Rockets made it for it by earning enough bonus points (extra points for pins, technical falls, major decisions) to gain two impressive victories.
R-P earned bonus points in 9 of 14 matches and beat Zeeland East 58-18. The Rockets earned bonus points in 7 of 14 matches and just got past a very good Fruitport squad, 41-35.
Clay Rozycki
Clay Rozycki clinched the victory over Fruitport in the final match, posting a 14-1 major decision win over his opponent. He also won his match against Zeeland East.
Other two-match winners for the Rockets were Landon Learn, Travis Henderson, Cory Judd, Hunter Eek, Tanner Cowles, Jake Rozycki and Aiden Neal.
The Rockets will return to action on Saturday at the Howell Invitational.
