The Reeths-Puffer volleyball team continues to make good progress against non-conference competition, and already has three more victories than all of last season

But life in the very competitive O-K Green conference continues to be a challenge for the Rockets.

Last year they posted a 2-10 mark in conference play, with the only two wins coming against a constantly struggling Muskegon team.

This year they are 1-2 in the O-K Green so far – with the only win being against Muskegon – following Thursday’s three-set loss to Caledonia.

The set scores were 19-25, 15-25, 15-25.

Carlee Bowen

Mairyn Peterson led R-P with five kills and Kate Tindall dished out 13 assists.

Defensively, Carlee Bowen totaled 14 digs and Abby Machinski had two blocks.

Head coach Justin Birr praised Bowen for posting a 2.58 passing rating, on a night when the rest of the team struggled with passing.

“We played a tough opponent tonight,” said Birr, whose team is now 15-12 overall. “Caledonia did well capitalizing on their strengths. To beat a team like that, we need to play a cleaner game, especially in serve-receive. Our offense and defense did a pretty good job tonight, but as a team we struggled to pass consistently.”

The Rockets will host Mona Shores on Tuesday in another conference match.
