The idea in cross country is to keep beating your best time, and the Reeths-Puffer girls did that on Friday at the Ottawa Hills Invitational at Riverside Park in Grand Rapids.

All five of the R-P runners who scored posted their personal best marks of the season.

The group was led again by Jersi Bilek, who finished in 19:41 and took 22nd place out of 169 runners. She did well despite battling some lingering effects of a recent illness.

Juniors Kaitlyn Durow and Darcy Keefe ran almost as a duo, both coming in at 22:19 and finishing in 99th and 100th place, respectively.

“They ran neck and neck the entire race, picking off groups of runners,” said R-P Coach Lindsay Keefe.
