So how tough is the O-K Green conference when it comes to girls golf?

Reeths-Puffer shot a season-best team score of 182 and had three golfers among the top 10 individuals at the third conference jamboree of the season on Monday, but finished third out of five teams.

Byron Center and Caledonia finished ahead of the Rockets with scores of 162 and 165, respectively. The Rockets finished ahead of Mona Shores and Jenison.

R-P head coach Matt Pallett is still very happy with his team’s progress and remains optimistic about the rest of the season.

“It was great to see the team shoot a season best nine-hole score tonight,:” he said. “We continue to trend in the right direction.

“All of our season goals are still in reach. We will focus on our weaknesses at practice to continue to get better to meet those early season goals.”

Sophia McCollum led the Rockets with a 39, good for sixth place. She took first place in the first two O-K Green jamborees this season.

Olivia Ambler and Ella Voorhies shot 42 and 44, respectively, and finished eighth and tenth in the individual standings. Both had their best career conference jamboree scores.

Keeley Cole and Ava Gibbs both shot a 57 for Reeths-Puffer, which will host the team’s own invitational tournament on Friday at Lincoln Golf Club.
