For the Reeths-Puffer girls golf team to achieve its goals this season, the players are going to have to continue to sharpen their skills.
One player who is headed in that direction is junior Ella Voorhies, who posted a very respectable 97 on Saturday, as the Rockets competed in the Next Tee Girls Golf Tournament at the Bedford Valley Golf Course in Battle Creek.
Voories parred on two holes and gained the attention of R-P head coach Matt Pallett.
“Ella Voorhies continues to show improvement,” he said. “She had a nice round today. Ella has a great attitude and I believe she will put some really nice rounds together this year.”

Also having another good day was junior Sophia McCollum, who led the Rockets with an 84 and finished 10th in the individual standings.
The Rockets did not have their best day as a team. They shot a combined score of 427 and finished 16th out of 19 teams at the tournament.
Dexter won the team event with a score of 336.
Keeley Cole and Ava Gibbs each shot a 123 for Reeths-Puffer while Madigan Pitcher shot a 141.
“It was not a great day for our team score,” Pallett said. “There are a few things that factored into that. It was a great day to see and play the course which is hosting the Division 2 state finals. One of our goals is to make it to the state finals as a team this year. The girls will work hard to achieve that goal.”
The Rockets will compete on Monday in the East vs. West Challenge at Muskegon Country Club.
