Reeths-Puffer senior Ethan Frang got off to a good start in his senior season on Tuesday, posting a 2-1 record in a four-team meet at Ludington High School.
Frang, playing No. 1 singles, plowed through his first two matches, defeating Edward Chan of Traverse City West 6-2, 6-3 and Connor Hill of Cadillac, 6-3, 6-0.
He had a close third match but fell just short, falling to Ryan Higley of Ludington, 6-4, 6-4.

Frang’s wins were the only victories for the very young an inexperienced Rockets, who finished fourth in the team standings behind first-place Ludington, Cadillac and Traverse City West.
R-P did have some strong efforts in a few other flights, however.
Henrik Ketner, making his debut at No. 3 singles, won six games in a two-set loss to Patrick Milne of Traverse City West.

The Rockets’ No. 1 doubles team of Jackson Baldus and Cory Judd went a full three sets against Ludington, but eventually fell 4-6, 6-2, 10-4 in a tiebreaker match.
“As a coach I was very proud of how the players learned throughout the day and positioned themselves for much more success at the end of the week,” said R-P Coach Ryan Hankinson.
The Rockets will play Friday at Fruitport and Saturday at Holland.
