As a team, the Rockets had a so-so season opener, shooting a combined score of 397 and taking 11th place out of 16 teams.

Junior Ella Voorhies shot a 98 on the day, 29 strokes better than her score last year. Senior Keeley Cole shot a 128, senior Ava Gibbs shot a 137 and senior Jaylynn Acre came in at 146.

“I am really happy for Sophia and Olivia,” R-P Coach Matt Pallett said about his medalists. “Both competed in tournaments this summer to get them prepared for the season. They both showed a lot of maturity on the course and persevered through a few tough stretches.

“My three juniors at the top of the lineup all had good days. The scary part is that they all feel they could have played even better. I am relying on them to be steady all year. Olivia and Ella each improved their rounds from last year by an incredible amount.

“We are counting on Keeley, Ava and Jaylynn to really work hard to help with the scoring. All three of them have great attitudes and want to work hard. I loved the attitude of all my players today.”
