At first glance, the Reeths-Puffer softball team simply completed two easy, predictable wins over Muskegon on Tuesday.
But a lot more than that happened during the games.
R-P senior Abbie Critchett broke the team's single-season record for triples when she hit one in Game 2.
It was her eighth triple and broke a tie between six players who each hit seven in one season over the past 17 years.

Critchett became one of those six players when she hit seven last season. The others were Kaylee Jones in 2023, Lindsay VenHuizen in 2013, Kelly Barnes in 2010, Bri Fogle in 2009 and Nicole Suchy in 2008.
R-P senior Brook Buchan also broke into the team record book on Tuesday, setting a new single-season mark for walks with 23. That eclipsed the previous record of 22, set by Caitlynn Duffy in 2022.
Meanwhile, senior Aubrey Clark hit her first career home run in Game 1.
The Rockets got their offense rolling in the opener, which they won 29-0. Buchan and Olivia Ambler each hit three singles, Tessa Ross had two singles and a double, Kyleigh Bilek hit two singles and Clark had a triple to go with her first career homer.

They will take the field again on Saturday, attempting to defend their 2024 Division 1 district championship.
R-P will host a good Grand Haven team at 10 a.m., with the winner advancing to the district finals, also at R-P, at 2 p.m.
