The Reeths-Puffer baseball team continued to play well on Tuesday, but lost a tough 5-3 game in extra innings to state-ranked Fruitport.

The Trojans took the lead in the second inning with a two-run homer. R-P tied the game the game 2-2 in the fifth inning, with the second run coming on an RBI single by Jack Yonkman.

Each team added a run and the game went to extra innings. Fruitport scored twice in the eighth for the deciding runs.eee

R-P's Quinn Alderink, who continued his recent success at the plate with two hits.

Cade Paugh, Holden Earnest, Ethan Frang and Quinn Alderink each collected two hits for the Rockets.

Drew Brooks and Yonkman pitched for R-P, doing a solid job of containing the potent Fruitport offense.

The loss ended a three-game winning streak for the Rockets, who will now enter Division 1 district tournament play on Saturday with a morning game against Grand Haven at Mona Shores High School.

A victory would put R-P in the Saturday afternoon championship game.
